About Ms. McCormick

My name is Emily McCormick. I am the counselor at Saddlebrook Elementary School.

Because I will work with your student weekly, it is important for you to know a little about my background.

I grew up in a small town in Northeast Nebraska. I was raised on a farm with a large swine operation, a few cows, and a lot of corn. I went to the same school, Oakland-Craig, from Kindergarten until I graduated in 1998. During my youth, I was very active in 4-H and FFA and was actually a state champion swine herder.

I received a Bachelor’s Degree in History from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2002. I worked in the insurance industry for 2 years after college. I returned to school and became a teacher at Omaha Bryan High School in 2005. I have since returned to school 3 times, earning a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and a certificate in English as a Second Language. Currently, I am finishing a second Master’s in School Counseling through Doane College.

In 2003, I got married to my husband Landon. In 2006, our daughter, Kinsley, was born. Landon is also a school counselor at Burke High School and Kinsley is a 5th grader.

Our family loves to travel. Some of our favorite places are San Francisco, Germany, and Costa Rica.

I am very excited to begin working with the students, parents, and staff at Saddlebrook. I hope to ensure classroom success for everyone.

I look forward to a wonderful year and can’t wait to meet you!
