Dewey Math

Dewey Decimal Classification

The library does not contain plots and stories alone.

The nonfiction section is full of facts and information, as well!  The books in the nonfiction section are arranged in a special way, called the Dewey Decimal Classification.  The Dewey Decimal system, created by Melville Dewey over 130 years ago, assigns a number to every subject you can think of.  When you find a book in the nonfiction section, you will find other books with the same or very similar Dewey Decimal number AND with the same or very similar subject.

You can practice with decimals using the websites in my Library Links section and soon you'll be a Dewey Decimal pro - - as well as a number-nimble, nonfiction, independent library expert!

Welcome to Saddlebrook Library

Welcome to Saddlebrook Library!

Saddlebrook Library is two libraries in one.

During the school day, Saddlebrook Elementary uses the children's section as a school library.  We read books, practice classroom skills and check out books.  Then, after school and on Saturdays, the library becomes the Saddlebrook Branch of Omaha Public Library.  This happens at the turn of a book shelf.

Saddlebrook Library is a wonderful opportunity - for students and staff - for learning and growing - for books and more books!
